First Flight, First Time Out Of USA >>>>>>>TOKYO BOUND!

Finally got all my devices up and running and on wifi, so this post is all about leaving the USA and arriving in Japan.

  • First Flight - That's right! This was my first time to fly in an airplane! I love shocking people with this.
Ø  We flew via - Nashville>>>>LAX>>>>Narita (Japan)

Ø  Japan Airline ANA =  super polite and helpful!
Let me just say that everyone at ANA, from the staff at the airport within LAX (not actual LAX staff because they seemed quite rude), the airline attendants on the plane, and the staff when arriving at Narita to check in, were all so nice, polite, very friendly, and super helpful.

Ø  Claustrophobic - I was super nervous and worried about leg space. I tend to get panicky when there's not room. Luckily, the 4hr flight to LA, I had an aisle seat. It was very cramped though (economy), so I was glad it was only 4 hrs. The flight to Japan was much better. Business class would’ve been amazing, but economy was nothing like the LA flight. It only had 2 seats and I was on the aisle. The plane was much bigger, so it didn’t feel as cramped. Now that being said, the last 3 hrs of the 10.5 hr flight was agonizing. I seriously began to question it all and what the heck I thought I was doing here. I had plenty of entertainment, but it wasn’t working for me. I could never quite get comfortable enough to fall asleep. The most I got was about 20min here and there. Let’s just say I was glad to get off the plane and arrive on land!

·        Train and Hostel
Ø  We took a 2 hr train ride and pretty much slept the whole way. It wasn’t very crowded until we reached Tokyo and then I was scrambling to get onto the last train as 50 people were rushing out of the train. And the doors do not stay open that long. All this while I was lugging my huge suitcase and laptop bag.
Ø  I share a hostel room with 4 other classmates. I like that there are no people outside of the school in our room. The bathroom is very private. Yay! You walk into the bathroom area and then the toilet, shower, and sink/mirror are all each in their own lockable room. So this is great for someone like me who was not looking for a college dorm life experience. On the way here, I was thinking, am I gonna have to buy my own shower curtain or what? Luckly, no!
Ø  I will post pictures of the train and hostel on my blog for today. Along with bathroom pics as I know everyone was curious about that back home.

Pics
Collage pic: Top was a giant ad in the airport. The food item was sooo yummy. Its called mochi. This one was like a berry, creamy yogurt/jelly thing. I'm gonna try a chocolate one tonight. The skyview was Japan as we approached the Narita airport. And I thought I'd also include a pic of the international ATM.

This is a can of hot coffee. That's right, you can buy it hot! Amazing!
