14 May, 2015... Better known as the day my legs died.
Today started off like every other day before it. I woke up, walked to the nearest food stand and ordered something that I never had before, then walk back and get ready for school. But unlike the other days, we made a slight alteration to our walk to school. It was an experiment to test out other transit lines. We walked past our normal subway entrance and I started to wonder just far we had to go. The answer is "More than I expected". Even through the walk was longer, I got to experience the transit lines and all of it's glory. By glory I mean being pack shoulder to shoulder with strangers whom you have never meet a day in your life. But hey, It's Japan.
The whole being trapped on a train with Japanese Salary men was actually kinda fun. It's something you really do not experience in the States unless you live in a huge city like New York. After we unpacked ourselves from out of the train , we continued our journey to the school. We arrived at the school after changing lines and started with a regular school. By this time my legs were good and warmed up.
Our excursion for the day was to visit the Civil center in Japan. How far was it you asked? Lets just say that it was not down the street. Luckily for us, the good ol Japanese transit lines are never too far away. We reached the center and there was something about it that was oddly familiar. It did not connect with me until Dr. V said that it resemble the World Trade Center. Japan likes to base it's Cities off of other cities, and its funny because as he said that, I saw more and more New York. We view the city from the observation deck and I swear that I saw Central Park. We ended the excursion by applying for our JR passes, Which will come to us shortly.
Sadly, that was not the end of my walking experience. Some classmates of mine wanted to go to a Computer store, I agreed to go with them on the understanding that it was not going to take too long. I have never been so wrong in my life. So much walking; up-stairs, down-stair, such a work out it was. At the end of the day, I clocked in at a total of 16 miles traveled on foot. 16 miles
= death of legs. New found respect for the people of Japan who do this everyday.
