The Process of Progress: Chapter Four

Unexpected Adventures

Today I couldn’t seem to sleep very comfortably for as long as I had hoped for. After tossing, turning, and experiencing a few nightmares, I decided to get out of bed and be productive with my day. I walked to the lounge to edit my blog and do my gratitude journal at about 5:42 AM. The new room that we were assigned to was absolutely great, but I can never seem to get my work done in cluttered environments. As I was working on my assignment, it hit me. I’M REALLY IN TOKYO, JAPAN. I began to reflect on the adverse life that brought me to this point. I thought about all the people that spoke negativity on my future, those that told me I would never amount to anything. I would’ve never imagined in a million years that I would be studying at a university in Japan, but by the grace of God, I’m here. I worked for a few hours before I realized that it was almost time to meet and head to class. I ran downstairs to shower and get packed up. The journey to class today was a bit helter-skelter as we attempted to venture on another route to class. We were told that this journey would be less congested, but we soon found out that was not the case. After a tumultuous journey to class, we arrived and began discussing homework assignments from the day before. I learned a lot today about how companies have to alter their advertisements and sometimes even their products to cater to a specific audience. My buddy Yusuke joined us today and class. He was very helpful with certain terms that we needed elaboration on. After class was dismissed, we congregated downstairs waiting anxiously for the cafeteria to open. After lunch concluded, I met with Alisha and Dr. Sellars as we all had a common goal of exploring a nap together. On our way back to the hostel, we took the wrong train line as we ended up south of Tokyo in an extremely unfamiliar land. As we pondered on our mistake, we realized that what seemed to be a mishap actually tuned to a grand fortune. We found the most prestigious temple located next to an elementary school where I heard children laughing and playing aloud for the first time since stepping foot into Tokyo. As we entered the temple, we took delight in studying the detailed landscape of the place. It was extremely beautiful After losing track of time, we hustled to the nearest train station and made haste back to the hostel, where the rest of my evening was spent reviewing for our quiz and nursing my paining back. Gosh, I hope these pains don’t persist tomorrow…
