Entry 10

It was an interesting day yet again when we woke up again at 7:30 to Meet Dr.V at the front of the hostel and once again made the journey to go to the sumo wrestling hall. We all got there once again and purchased the tickets. After that we made our way to school and went to class. After class was over we went down to the cafeteria and got some lunch. when we were done with lunch we made our way back to the hostel where I was able to do a workout before the actual wrestling match. The wrestling match was a really cool thing to see first hand. I had never seen anything like it before. Most of the time laps of the match was due to warming up. They would walk around the ring doing various types of stretching in order to prepare themselves for the match. They would also throw down some sort of rice or powder on the floor as part of some kind of ritual, I never actually figured out what type of material it was but it did symbolize some kind of sacred respect or something. after they got done throwing down the rice/powder people would come out holding flags that symbolized all the awards that the wrestler had won, then they would go over to there coach and get prepared for the match. The wrestlers would get down in a bull dog like stance and wold begin going at it as soon as the ref gave them the signal. The wrestlers would put everything they had into pushing each other out of the ring or throwing there opponent to the floor. Whoever pushed there opponent out of the ring or through there opponent down won the match. The crowed was going crazy it was an awesome privilege to see something like this that you would never see in the U.S. After watching a few matches we kinda got kicked out of our seats by people who had them reserved, we had no idea where to go because we did not seem to have a designated area on our ticket only an icon that said 2nd floor. So we kinda just proped up and watched a few matches without sitting down, shortly followed by us exciting the arena. It was an awesome unique experience!!
