An American's Japanese life IV

May 18, 2015

Today started off differently because we were not on our regular school day. We got a few extra hours of sleep which was fantastic. Instead of going to the downtown campus like we always do, we went to the to Main campus which so happens to be an hour and some changes away for the city. We get our new passes and were finally able to ride the JR( Japan Railroad). With the card, I felt official. I was finally could tap my wallet on the scanner like everyone else. Simple pleasures I guess you can say.
We got to the campus along 4:00, and this campus is beautiful. It's like three times the size of Tennessee State University's main campus. We learned a little about the type school it is. It seems like make of the students on campus studies some form of political science. We ate lunch in the man cafe. The food is totally different then what we are use to back in the states. We eat hamburgers and Hot dogs where as they will eat thinly sliced beef upon rice with a raw egg on top. I was not quick to choose it at first but curiosity kicked in. I must say it was better than what I expected. to I'm surprised to see a campus with three cafes in it. They must have a big student body. The school was be different than Tsu, but the one thing that is similar is the fact that the food on the Downtown cafe is better than that of the main.
We finished class and had to time before before our next activity. So between then, we were giving the opportunity to explore the campus. I got the admire the view from the the campus. From standing on campus ground's, you are able to see the near by city. The ponds have fishes in them, which I thought was very cool. I had less time than expected because before I knew it, it was time to go to our next activity. We practiced the Japanese art of folding paper known as Origami. Luckily. I had prior practice with origami so I was not left looking too confused. I made the one thing I know how to make by memory, a swain. Sadly, the way that I do it I not the correct way. You win some, you lose some. Never less, my swain was still a work of art in my opinion and was worthy of a pic.
The last thing we did was surely the best thing I have seen or heard seen the better of this trip. I was honored enough to be allowed to sit in and get a performance from the  Chuo university's Tiako drum band known as "Kooh". It was wonderful, truly remarkable. I has never seen a performance as such. As a musician, music is a big part of m and means a great deal. Being able to see how these students danced with their drums while keeping up with the rhythms and rudiments was fantastic. They gave us, the visiting students, the change to play on there drums. All we cause was a great deal of noise.
Leaving the performance marked the end of our days, and we were able to go off and do our own thing. This evening, I did not feel like really any but doing back to the hostel and simply relaxing, a thing I haven't done much of since we been here. I spent my evening laying back and getting some work done.
