PROMETRIC
On our travels through the world of marketing, we have learned many things that a business must do in order to reach its target audience and pull a profit. We learned of the various types of business and the procedures that they make when combating against economic issues and other business in their same market. Today, as a way to help future our education, we went on a hands-on excursive to a business called Prometric. During our time there, we learned information on the operations of the business and what exactly Prometric is.
What is Prometric? Prometric is a non-profit company that focuses on the development and delivery of exams for schools, business and etc. Prometric is a wholly-owned company of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) that is based in Chuo, Japan. The company structure not just one, but multiple types of test. They offer multiple choice, fill in the blank, and open-ended questions to fit the need of the person who ordered the test. For the past 20 years, Prometric has been trusted by companies and school to provide them with a fair and balance test to assess the certain quality of the test taker to the company given the test. They do this by investing in research to gather information that could be used to eliminate questions that could be bias and give one student an advantage or another.  When compared to other companies in their market, they offer a faster delivery turn over and service at the lowest possible cost.
How does Prometric work? The Speaker, Jim Hagenbucher, gave us a nice summary of the actions of Prometric. Prometric works with a network of over 8,000 test centers scattered over more than 160 countries. Along with Jim Hagenbucher, Atsushi Yui( Marketing manager) covered the marketing side of the business and how they do work in other countries. Between the two of them, they answered whatever questions we had. These test centers are the state-of-the-art computer labs where everything is under surveillance. After our Q&A session with Mr. Hagenbucher and Mr. Yui, we meet with Ms. Maki Ishikawa who was our guide for the tour of the facility's testing center. Before entry to the testing facilities, you must go through a check in line where you and recorded into a systems to see if you are even supposed to test there that day. Afterwards, you are sent to a waiting room and assigned a locker for your belongings. The company is so against cheated that they screen each student to make sure they are not carrying anything they do not need. Each testing center is equipped with 300 computers that was under constant surveillance with a camera above each desk, all monitored by someone at the first with all the camera recordings loaded on one screen. This is to design to eliminate any form of cheating that a test taker may be tempted to do. Each testing room to completely sound proof to stop any distracting noises from getting inside.
