An American's Japanese Life II

May 16, 2015

Today, I slept better than normal. Probably because yesterday was so long and exhausting or the fact that it is the start of the weekend and we do not have school today. Never the less, I was full of energy. Even though I was full of energy, I did not really has much to do. I looked outside and noticed a heavy overcast which normal is a sign of rain. Judging by the thickness of the clouds , I came to the conclusion that I would wait before going outside and getting trapped in the rain. So for the first half of the morning I stayed indoors and just worked on some homework assigned to me by Dr.V.
While a couple friends and I were doing our work, a girl walked into the area that we were at. She still nice and was pretty open to conversions. She talked about how she has basically traveled the world before the age of 29. It was exciting to think that someone could have that much cultural experience before they have reached 30 years old. She continued to talk about Japan is one of the more unique places she have been. That made me appreciate the opportunity that I was given even more. Driven by hunger, I knew it was time to leave the hostel and go look for food. We went to a nearby Denny's for food, But it was a lot going on there. The Denny's in Japan is completely different than the Denny's in America. The menu was set up different. We more looking at the menu trying the figure out where anything way. So we decided to leave to eat kebabs instead.
After we ate, we headed to Shibuya for shopping and price hunting. You can not be bored in Shibuya, there is always something to do somewhere. While exploring the street vendors, we found a deal that seemed too good to be true. Someone was selling Watches for 1000 Yen, roughly $10. My friend, Jason, went to check it out and to our suspicion we were correct. It was to good to be true. As his tried on one of the watches, it broke. Moral of the story, don't always trust what vendors are seller. As we walked, we came across what we thought was a Arcade. We opened the doors and was blasted with loud ringing and other annoying noises. The arcade turned out to be a casino. A four story Casino may I add. Upon entry, we desperately look for an exit. It was that bad. I don't know how people were just sitting in there like they couldn't hear it.
By this time, our hunger came back with a vengeance. We tried this place called "Youhisnoya". That one thing I can never get tried. Real Japanese cooking is of a world of its own. The food was so good I had to get two plates.
