I had a really great experience at the Advertisement Museum! I enjoyed seeing advertisements in Japan move throughout the different periods of time. We had a guided tour and started in the Edo period and took an educational journey all the way to the early 2000s. The Japanese term advertising is “Kokoku” and it appeared in the late 1800s. The section I thought to be the most interesting were propaganda posters during World War II. Japanese were influenced to mass produce pumpkins because they grew quickly and were high in nutrients. We participated in interactive activities throughout this museum where we needed to complete a set of stamps to complete a picture.
For lunch I returned to a ramen shop in Shinjuku that I visited on day 4 because it was delicious. They have vending machines for ordering your food as well and I ordered the same ramen I had the first time. The was a different chef and it tasted different but not lacking in quality. It was very great and it is still my number one spot in Tokyo so far. After dinner, I navigated the super busy shinjuku station and went back to the hostel for the night.
