Venessa, Precious, and I explored the market in Ueno. Ameyoko Plaza is just a short seven minute walk away from the hostel in Ueno. We don’t have very many things like this back in the United States so there were a lot of new exciting things to check out. We walk to this market with no intention, and one to see where the day would take us. We ended up stopping at a restaurant that served yakitori. We met a lot of locals and shared food and drinks with one another. They were very happy and pleasant people to be around, and they were very engaged in conversation. We had a very enjoyable experience at this restaurant and the food was great as well.
After we ate we started to shop. There were hundreds of shops to choose from so we took our time and browsed through all of them. There were raw seafood stalls, dried spices, clothes, shoes, bags, and etc. I tried on clothes in a small clothing store and this was my first time being required to take off my shoes since I've been in Japan. The was sign for the dressing room and the employee informed me as well to leave them outside of the space. I had preexisting fear about doing so because it could've been stolen in the United States but I chose to trust the Japanese honor system.
