Day 1

Today was a travel day. The 12 hour flight is something I’ve never experienced before. The plane food was decent and I had a whole row to myself so the flight was fine. When we arrived at Haneda customs went by very fast unlike the Atlanta airport customs that I’m used to. The QR code we had to do made the lines move faster. We went on the trains just a little before rush hour which was nerve racking since people in Tokyo move FAST. One mistake and you’ll hold up the entire line. The trains weren’t hard to navigate since the screens tell you exactly where you’re going, but seeing children travel by themselves was surprising. When we got to the stop at Okachimachi, we walked to the hostel that we’re staying at. This is where I noticed that it’s extremely common to walk, if not the preferred way of travel vs in the US where you most likely have to have a car to travel.
